Badbaado Relief and Education Development Organization

BREDO has implemented several projects focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Baidoa. A recent achievement in this field includes:

  1. Establishment of Safe Spaces: – BREDO has set up safe spaces for women and girls who are survivors or at risk of GBV. These safe spaces provide not only physical security but also psychosocial support, counseling, and referral services for further assistance. They serve as centers where women can access various forms of help in a confidential and supportive environment.
  2. Capacity Building and Community Awareness: – BREDO has conducted extensive community awareness campaigns aimed at educating the public about GBV, its consequences, and the importance of reporting cases. They have also provided training to local authorities, community leaders, and health workers on how to handle GBV cases effectively and sensitively.
  3. Legal Aid Services: – The organization has worked to enhance access to legal support for GBV survivors. This includes providing legal counseling, assistance in navigating the justice system, and advocating for the rights of survivors within the legal framework.
  4. Psychosocial Support: – BREDO has integrated psychosocial support services into their GBV response initiatives. This includes counseling services for survivors, support groups, and activities aimed at promoting mental well-being.
  5. Livelihood Support for Survivors: – To empower GBV survivors economically, BREDO has initiated livelihood support programs. These programs offer vocational training and small grants to help survivors start their own businesses or secure employment, reducing their vulnerability to further violence. These achievements reflect BREDO’s commitment to addressing GBV in Baidoa by providing comprehensive support and protection for survivors while also working to prevent violence through community engagement and empowerment.
